CREATING SHARED VALUE

FILA-SOPHY

The management team does not wish to take a whole credit for all our projects as it is collective work and this passion project speaks for itself and for the local community.
Therefore we believe that whatever we do in Filha da Lua and its social & environmental projects, constitutes a whole concept of eco-conscious tourism.

We built our hotels in natural materials, refuse to use generic fertilizers in our organic farm or dangerous products for hotel cleaning, we buy our products from small proximity producers to deliver menus which are healthy, gluten & lactose free. We strive to respect all wild life being part of our hotel and its surrounding, and we constantly teach and share the skills, knowledge about naturopathy and the use of Ayurvedique spices & herbs in the everyday food & body treatments, while incorporating agroforestry and its techniques to save water in order to produce clean & nutritious food…

Filha Da Lua truly believes in a society that stops thinking in terms of gender or race but embraces the universal humanity in all of us. It’s about empowering a human being, hand in hand together, and looking as a collective for all the opportunities to make the World a better place. It is for that and especially right now that we are trying daily to create the chain of consciousness and ethics in the new hospitality business.
Empowering through education & giving the local community access to the jobs which make them independent and safer in the patriarchal society is the key to a better World, our world.

All our team is willing to share with those who want to learn and are prepared to continue to share with others their knowledge and experience. It’s our goal, our purpose, our task, everyday…and therefore we feel there is no need to explain it to the World and to justify ourselves for doing a good thing.

We all truly hope one day you would visit us here and appreciate what we achieved together with the wonderful local community of Tibau Do Sul.

SUSTAINABILITY – INCORPORATING OUR ENVIRONMENT

Based on sustainable construction practices to preserve the surrounding forests & preserve the land, our resort was made of Eucalyptus reforestation wood and therefore we were able to reduce the project’s concrete carbon emissions. In order to keep the surroundings completely decontaminated, each bungalow was built on stilts to preserve the soil’s permeability without degrading it & through an introduction of 100% ecological waste station. Combined with its rustic, natural and sophisticated style inspired by Balinese architecture all elements of the Earth were respected and are in perfect harmony.

Returning abundance to our farm we call Pachamama in Sibauma through organic and regenerative agriculture, Agroforestry Systems, Biodiversity and Permaculture to promote all enterprise entities with self-sustainability. The farm, spanning over 11 hectares of fertile coastal land, has been in the community since the 1950s but was unused for 30years and our farm team is bringing it back to life. I can truly say that it is on the way to becoming its very own BIGGEST LITTLE FARM to produce enough to supply all our hotels, restaurants, two of our local community schools and our Kitesurfing school over the upcoming years.

CARBON FOOTPRINT

As we are reevaluate all our actions daily to reduce our contribution to carbon footprint such as construction, transport of goods and use of local products we are proud to say that our Fazenda Pachamama’s CO2 offset per year, as estimated by FarmCarbon ToolKit, sequesters about 11t of CO2 per year, the equivalent of 5 return flights in Economy from either London, Paris or New York to Natal International Airport

COMMUNITY

Our mission is to promote education for local residents of Tibau do Sul-RN and respective districts, towns and villages, in order to improve their living conditions and introduction into the regional labor market.

Privately funded social project aimed at giving English classes & learning space for the native population of Barra do Cunhaú and surroundings, promoting knowledge & improvement of quality of life.

With our school affiliated as an IKO Center, we are now in a position to provide internationally recognized vocational water sports training to local children & adults and offer jobs with tutelage to locals that would otherwise not be in a position to gain access to these set of skills or have the financial capability to enlist on a course, gaining invaluable experience and creating Environmental Awareness.
